Becker County Homelessness Task Force

Creating Community Consulting facilitated a community engagement session on Addressing Homelessness and Creating Community Solutions in Becker County on Thursday November 30th, 2023 at the Becker County Museum. Using county data, data from the Homeless Response System and local service providers, and community feedback, this session had local leaders prioritize local, sustainable solutions to be implemented. There were almost 50 community leaders and engaged residents representing 36 different organizations, level of governments, service providers, and congregations.

Food Systems Planning

A partnership with Mezclada, PartnerSHIP 4 Health, West Central Initiative, and CHI Health resulted in the publication of a Regional Food Systems Plan for West Central Minnesota in 2023. You can read more about projects managed in collaboration with Mezclada on their website: https://mezclada.co/

Strategic Narrative Change

A project of Inclusive Moorhead, Inclusive Action is an initiative designed to shift the mindset and behavior of community members to create a more welcoming and inclusive community. Creating Community Consulting (CCC) facilitated a connection between Inclusive Moorhead and local BIPOC photographers to ask the question "How are you working to make Moorhead a more inclusive or welcoming community?" Then CCC created images that are shared via the website.

The collection of images depicts the vibrant tapestry of Moorhead's residents, capturing moments from various community events and life experiences. Through portraits of individuals, the essence of belonging and unity within the community is beautifully portrayed. Over the past year, snapshots from events such as Welcoming Week, the Greater Moorhead Days Parade, and disability self-advocacy gatherings have been carefully curated. These images will be shared both digitally and through a dynamic display that will traverse the community, serving as a testament to the diversity, inclusivity, and spirit of togetherness that define Moorhead. The display is with The ARC of Minnesota. The display will be interchangeable with new portraits and will go to local libraries, cultural events, schools and museums. CCC was able to identify events and partnerships in Moorhead to make the project inclusive and welcoming.

Frazee Community Development

CCC leads engagement in Frazee, bringing people together to implement community-identified solutions to improve economy and wellbeing. CCC's leadership and efforts have supported the creation of 16 new jobs in Frazee, with approximately 50% of those being first time jobs for youth.

Our engagement includes:

• Leading economic development with the City to move “Frazee Forward: Where families and opportunities thrive”.
• Supporting the development through grant writing and cultural preservation of Wannigan Regional Park -- a nature-based park creating unique outdoor recreational experiences and connected to 3 unique recreational trails of statewide/regional significance.
• Strengthening the development of Cornerstone Community and Youth Center, improving connectedness and wellbeing among Frazee’s youth.
• Overall, CCC has allocated $327,000 to these community initiatives since CCC's founding in 2022, bringing much needed support and financial resources to improve wellbeing among residents of all ages.
